Empirical Health has recently updated its Apple Watch and iPhone app to offer a more comprehensive and personalized health care experience. The update introduces AI technology to generate custom health care plans based on the user’s health data and goals. These plans are reviewed by real doctors to ensure accuracy and can include prescriptions, lab tests, or referrals if necessary.
The update also includes a redesigned user interface, support for third-party blood pressure cuffs, and in-app benchmarks for various health metrics such as resting heart rate, HRV, VO2 Max, deep sleep %, and more. The benchmarks provide users with a comparison to medical norms and their percentile.
Empirical Health is now available in 27 US states, serving approximately 200 million people, an expansion from the initial 4 states at launch. The app also offers new workout templates for zone 2 training, high-intensity training, and strength training.
The integration of AI with Apple Health data is a significant step towards creating a personal healthcare companion similar to Baymax from Big Hero 6. While large language models have passed medical licensing exams, the grounding in objective, physical biomarkers is a missing piece. Empirical 2.0 aims to fill this gap by grounding medical AI in objective physical data.
Empirical Health for Watch is a free download from the App Store, with in-app purchases available to unlock all features. The app uses affiliate links for income generation.
