NNPC unveils business opportunities for youth corps members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nigeria has pre-qualified a total of 2,659 members for the final phase of the NNPC Foundation’s Business Pitching Exercise, scheduled to take place from July 2 to 10, 2024. This event is a significant part of the NNPC Foundation’s Financial Literacy program, which has engaged over 284,000 corps members in rigorous training and assessments.

The Managing Director of the NNPC Foundation, Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, explained that the selection process would prioritize the feasibility and sustainability of the business ideas, market relevance, competitive edge, innovation, scalability, community impact, and the entrepreneurial spirit of the corps members.

These pre-qualified individuals will present their business ideas to a panel of distinguished assessors. Successful projects will receive startup packs, business advisory services, and opportunities to expand their ventures.

The Financial Literacy Program is in line with the NNPC Foundation’s mission of empowering young Nigerian graduates with the skills needed for personal and professional development. By teaching financial management and entrepreneurship, the program aims to make the corps members economically self-sufficient and contribute positively to society.

The NNPC Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of NNPC Limited, focuses on improving Nigeria’s socio-economic development through targeted interventions in education, health, the environment, access to energy, and youth empowerment. In a related development, the Foundation has facilitated a 50% reduction in the registration fee for corps members’ businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
