Houston woman trying Ozempic, Wegovy rival after using other options

A local woman, Diane Schramm, is experiencing success in her weight loss journey with the help of a new generation of weight loss drugs. Currently, 75% of Americans are overweight, but a new weight-loss injection is expected to hit the market soon, which could potentially reduce this number further. Diane has lost 25 pounds so far, having tried Ozempic and Tirzepatide before. She is now one of the first to try the next generation of weight loss drugs called Retatrutide, which is being administered at Renew Body Contouring and MedSpa in Houston.

Retatrutide mimics three different hunger-regulating hormones, making it the most effective option yet. It is currently being tested in a clinical research study at Renew Body Contouring and MedSpa. Previous weight loss drugs like Semaglutide (sold as Ozempic and Wegovy) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro and Zepbound) have been effective but targeted only one or two receptors in the body. Retatrutide’s potential effectiveness comes from its ability to mimic three different hunger-regulating hormones.

Katina Kearns, the Owner of Renew Body Contouring and MedSpa, compares these GLPs (GLP-1, GLP-2, and GLP-1/GLP-2) to different pens with the same ink. Each manufacturer makes a different process of the pen, but in the end, all the ink is the same. This analogy can be applied to the GLPs, as they all mimic hormones in our bodies that regulate hunger and metabolism.

Diane has experienced only minor side effects, such as nausea with the first drug she tried. Kearns notes that the new Retatrutide has an ability to help patients retain muscle and has fewer side effects than previous drugs. She also mentions that Renew Body Contouring and MedSpa can help with side effects like hair loss and muscle loss that can occur with sudden weight loss.

According to Kearns, her clients have lost anywhere from 20 to 100 pounds with weight loss injections. Diane is excited about her weight loss journey and is currently losing five more pounds to reach her goal. She is also receiving skin tightening treatments to address sagging skin, a common concern with rapid weight loss.

Renew Body Contouring and MedSpa is able to use a compound pharmacy, which helps reduce the price of the injections to between $60 and $100 per injection. For more information, please visit their website.
