Google has released the July system update for several Pixel devices, including the Pixel 5a (5G), Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, 8, 8 Pro, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. This update brings general improvements for camera stability, system stability, and performance, as well as a user interface bug fix for certain back gesture navigation issues. The update is being rolled out globally and should be available to the mentioned Pixel owners in the coming weeks.
It’s important to note that this update does not address the factory reset issue that affected some Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a devices. Google has acknowledged this issue and is working on a solution. In the meantime, they recommend leaving the device untouched for at least 15 minutes after a system update to avoid the issue. Users can also choose to factory reset their devices before performing the latest system update.
The update rollout began on July 3, but it will be phased and may depend on the carrier and device. The update versions are AP2A.240705.004 for Pixel 5a (5G) and Pixel Fold models, AP2A.240705.005 for Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a models, and AP2A.240705.005.A1 for Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a models on the Telus carrier.
