Two entrepreneurs, Jonathon Powell and Chris Beal, both aged 30, from Perth’s south, have launched a unique business venture called OnlyVans, redefining travel experiences for those seeking a blend of luxury and adventure. The campervan rental service offers a fleet of six vans, each offering a comfortable and fully equipped space suitable for young travelers to enjoy on trips across Western Australia (WA).
The idea for OnlyVans was conceived over a few beers, with the vision of combining luxury and adventure. Mr. Beal, a carpenter by trade, had initially bought an old van in 2022 and refurbished it for a trip down south. The van was used for attending parties, bush doofs, and camping, and people began inquiring about it at these events. This sparked the idea to turn it into a business with new vans and a more luxurious approach.
Powell, who works in logistics, revealed that the company has already seen great success, with an occupancy rate of 75 to 80 percent on all six vans. They are expecting another seven vans to join their fleet soon. The business targets a younger crowd, aged between 21 and 35, offering a fun and relaxed lifestyle of camping and exploring WA’s coast.
The website allows customers to browse through the six differently decorated vans, each named after a style of wine. All vans require a minimum two-day booking, with the Chardonnay van starting at $140 per day. Five of the six vans are pet-friendly and offer a range of amenities such as a 65L fridge, a portable evaporative cooler, unlimited free kilometers, a premium double mattress with linen and pillows, camping needs like chairs, tables, gazebos, and cooking essentials.
