See which Pa. amusement parks, roller coasters were named best in the country

In July 2020, Knoebels Amusement Park opened for the season, offering a delightful experience for riders. The park, located in Pennsylvania, was recognized by the National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA) as the “Favorite Traditional Amusement Park” in their 2023 survey. One of the park’s attractions, The Phoenix, was also awarded the title of “Favorite Wood Coaster” in the same survey.

Another Pennsylvania-based amusement park, Kennywood, received recognition in the survey as well. Kennywood’s Phantom’s Revenge was among the top two results for the “Favorite Steel Coaster” category. In 2022, the roller coaster received a new purple paint job to celebrate the park’s 125th anniversary.

In more recent news, Hersheypark’s Wildcat’s Revenge was selected as the “Favorite New Attraction” in the 2023 NAPHA survey. This attraction, an all-new wood and steel hybrid coaster, was a source of excitement for visitors. Dauphin County was represented in this category, as Hersheypark’s Wildcat’s Revenge was listed alongside Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The National Amusement Park Historical Association, founded in 1978, is an international organization dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of the amusement park industry. Their annual surveys serve as a means to recognize and celebrate the best attractions in the industry.
