Apple Notes, a valuable app within the Apple ecosystem, has been enhanced with new features in iOS 18. One of the notable additions is the ability to take voice notes directly within the app. Users can record audio and embed it inline with their text, allowing for easy sharing of specific voice notes without sharing the entire note. The iPhone also transcribes voice notes, a feature currently limited to English dialects such as American, British, Australian, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand, South African, and some variations of English like Indian and Singaporean.
Another interesting feature is the ability to solve math problems within Notes. Users can define variables and their values, and the app will perform calculations using the same technology powering the new Math Notes section of the Calculator app.
Navigating large notes has been made easier with the ability to collapse sections, reducing the amount of scrolling required. This feature works by applying the Heading style to any section of notes and then tapping the heading to collapse it.
Lastly, users can now add color to their notes for better organization and visual appeal. They can choose from a variety of colors such as purple, pink, orange, mint, and blue by tapping the Aa button from the Notes toolbar above the keyboard.
