Two entrepreneurs, Jonathon Powell and Chris Beal, from Perth’s south, have launched a unique business venture called OnlyVans, which aims to redefine travel by offering a luxurious and adventurous road trip experience. The idea for OnlyVans was conceived over a few beers, with the duo envisioning a combination of comfort and excitement.
The campervan rental service currently boasts a fleet of six vans, each offering a fully equipped and comfortable space suitable for young travelers to enjoy during trips across Western Australia. The business was inspired by Mr. Beal, a carpenter by trade, who refurbished an old van for a trip and received inquiries about it at parties and events. This led to the decision to turn the idea into a business with new vans and a focus on luxury.
The company has seen significant success since its inception, with an occupancy rate of 75-80% on all six vans. Jonathon Powell, who works in logistics, revealed that they are expecting another seven vans to join their fleet soon.
OnlyVans targets a younger crowd, aged between 21 and 35, who are interested in exploring Western Australia. The business prides itself on offering a more relaxed schedule with fewer rules compared to standard campervan rental services.
The website allows customers to browse through six differently decorated vans, each named after a style of wine. The vans require a minimum two-day booking, with the Chardonnay van starting at $140 per day. Five of the six vans are pet-friendly and offer a range of amenities such as a 65L fridge, a portable evaporative cooler, unlimited free kilometers, a premium double mattress with linen and pillows, camping essentials like chairs, tables, gazebos, and cooking equipment.
