Ryanair, Europe’s leading airline, has issued an apology for the disruptions caused by cancelled flights this week. The airline attributed the delays to European Air Traffic Control (ATC) staff shortages, which have been affecting all European airlines. On Wednesday, July 3, 13% of Ryanair’s first wave departures were delayed due to ATC staff shortages, with 78 out of 581 aircraft affected.
The airline expressed its regret for these delays, stating that they are due to ATC mismanagement and are beyond Ryanair’s control. The carrier, which competes with Easyjet and Jet2, added that the repeated flight delays are unacceptable.
Passengers have taken to social media to express their frustration, with one passenger stating, “How about concentrating on your passengers don’t you think they’ve been through enough absolute disgrace!”. Another passenger wrote, “Typical @Ryanair at their best delaying flights for hours”.
One holidaymaker expressed their dissatisfaction, stating, “Think it’s safe to say I won’t be using @Ryanair or @loveholidays ever again. Both absolutely useless in trying to help after a cancelled flight. Just passing it between each other.” These sentiments reflect the widespread dissatisfaction among passengers due to the flight delays and cancellations.
