Samsung just gave older Galaxy Watches a major upgrade

Samsung has announced a One UI 6 Watch beta upgrade for its Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 users, providing a sneak peek into the upcoming features of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. The beta is currently available for Samsung members and offers improvements in health tracking, user interface, and workout tracking.

The upgrade introduces a pinch gesture for selecting items on the screen and faster horizontal scrolling. It also allows users to combine multiple exercises to create a custom workout routine. However, it seems that the update is limited to Bluetooth models, excluding the LTE versions of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4. The reason for this exclusion is not yet clear.

For those interested in joining the beta, the process is straightforward. Open the Samsung Members app, find the card with the latest build for your watch, tap it, join for your Watch model, and load the update via the Galaxy Wearable app.

It is speculated that the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, expected to debut during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, will come with the complete operating system out of the box. This could be an attractive option for those who prefer a primarily bug-free OS.

In addition to the new smartwatches, Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to feature the next-generation foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Z Flip 6, Samsung’s take on a wearable ring, the Galaxy Ring, and the redesigned Galaxy Buds 3.
