On July 30, 2024, the Maharashtra government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NSDC International Limited to establish a center for skill-based certificate courses in Pune. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and aims to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state, both domestically and internationally. The training center will be located at Government Distance Education Tantra Niketan Sanstha in Pune, and NSDC International Limited will provide the necessary training according to the skill requirements of the workforce in various countries.
In addition to this, the Maharashtra government also approved seven large and ultra-large projects with an investment of Rs 81,000 crore in the state. These projects are expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 20,000 people directly. The majority of the investment will be made in the regions of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Konkan. The decision was made in a cabinet sub-committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, and other concerned officers in attendance.
