Samsung rushes to deliver its first Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7 update

Samsung introduced several new devices during their Unpacked event on July 10, 2023, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, Galaxy Watch 7, Watch Ultra, and Buds 3 series. The Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra became available for purchase on July 24. However, early buyers of these watches have reported experiencing battery drain issues and poor battery life, despite Samsung’s claims that the Watch 7 should last between 30 to 40 hours and the Watch Ultra between 60 to 80 hours.

Frustrated users have reported getting only around 12 hours of usage, even with light to moderate usage. Samsung acknowledged the issue and is now rolling out a software update to address it. The update, which is available through the Galaxy Wearable app, promises to improve performance and stability, which should likely include a fix for the battery drain issue.

In addition to the battery fix, the update also brings new and enhanced features to the watches. The exact nature of these new features is currently unknown, but it is speculated that they may be connected to the suite of Galaxy AI features that were not available in the initial release. Galaxy Watch 7 owners should see the firmware version L310XXU1AXG2 update (173.51MB), while Watch Ultra owners should see the L705FXXU1AXFB update (330.59MB).
