Suprabha Mysore, the vice president of software development at TransUnion, has had a diverse and resilient career in the tech industry. After earning her BE in computer science, she began her professional journey with Nokia in a software development role. In 2007, she ventured into entrepreneurship, focusing on creating mobile software for emerging e-commerce platforms. However, after 18 months, her startup had to close due to a lack of investors willing to bring the product to market.
Despite this setback, Suprabha found value in her entrepreneurial experience. It provided her with insights into the intricacies of business, client expectations, and investor dynamics, which she leveraged in subsequent job interviews. Employers recognized the value of her entrepreneurial background and trusted her ability to lead teams.
Following her entrepreneurial stint, Suprabha worked in engineering and product management roles for companies like Cisco, Nokia, and Intel. She currently holds a position at TransUnion, a US-based consumer credit reporting agency.
Throughout her career, Suprabha has emphasized the importance of customer feedback and user-centric product development. She believes in keeping the business aspect in mind while coding and values discipline, methodology, and orderliness, traits she attributes to her training in Carnatic music and writing short stories.
In her free time, Suprabha enjoys playing the piano and spending weekends with her mother, humming classical music. She also writes short stories, using them as a means to communicate clearly and effectively. One of her stories, titled ‘A sole-ful run’, was inspired by an incident on an airplane involving a young boy and a broken shoe.
